Paintings of quiet contemplation.  It’s all about the light.  My paintings are intended to be challenging yet accessible to a wide audience.  The settings may be anywhere yet nowhere and are often backdrops to some submerged psychological drama.  I explore my own joys, fears and anxieties about the contemporary world and project them onto the canvas.

Exhibitions and Blog

I have two paintings on show at this gallery in a unique setting. Local artists and those from further afield who have previously exhibited at WAS were invited to participate.

Some time back, I spent a few years living in the central goldfields area of Victoria and witnessed some dry times. In some years, the pastures were only green from July to October. More recently those years came back to me so I painted this remembrance to those tough times.

This is "Drought", oil on canvas, 76 cm x 91 cm, currently on show at the Old Auction House in Kyneton, part of MAVA's (Melbourne & Victorian Artists) exhibition "Beyond City Limits."

A visit to Heide Museum of Modern Art to view the experimental photography of Max Dupain and Man Ray is highly recommended. You can sample some of their imagery in my latest blog.
